Sea-Doo Engines & Parts

SBT stocks both impellers and wear rings for Sea-Doo personal watercraft and boats across many model years. Fitment varies by model, year, and engine combination, so it is important to identify all three before selecting a part.

For wear rings specifically, some Sea-Doo pumps require you to know whether your pump housing is metal or plastic, because that affects the thickness of the correct wear ring. If a product page on sbt.com prompts you for pump material, do not skip that step.

For impellers, multiple series (such as Solas Concord and Dynafly) may list the same model in their fitment guides, so check each product page carefully for the exact years and variants covered. If a part shows as out of stock, check the product page for availability updates, as stock levels change.

Start with the hull serial number (VIN). On most Sea-Doos it is on a tag or sticker on the rear deck or starboard side of the hull. The last two digits of the VIN indicate the model year. Combine that with the exact model name (e.g., GTX, RX, Sportster LE) and you have the starting point for any engine lookup.

Next, inspect the engine itself. Many Sea-Doo engines require a second round of identification beyond year and model. Key things to check depending on your engine family:
- 657/657X engines: look for a black tag on the flywheel reading '657' or '657X', or read the engine label for bore, stroke, and displacement figures.
- 951 Carb vs. 951 DI: confirm whether the engine is direct injection (DI) or carbureted — they are completely different and not interchangeable. On a 951 DI, also note the number of intake ports (5 or 6), injector color, and whether the head has a threaded water hose fitting. These details determine the exact variant.
- 781/787 RFI engines: inspect the cylinder surface — earlier models have smooth cylinders, later models have a waffled surface.
- 1503 Supercharged (4-stroke): locate the crank position sensor and identify the valve cover style.

If any of these details are unclear, SBT's product pages list the identification criteria for each engine. Having all of this information ready before ordering ensures the correct engine or parts are matched to the watercraft.

SBT stocks complete jet pump assemblies for many Sea-Doo models. Examples from the catalog include assemblies for GTI, GTX, RXP, XP, GSX, GTS, Sportster, Wake, Speedster, and others. All 4-Tec pump assemblies (2002 and newer) feature aluminum housings and ship assembled.

Fitment is model-specific — Sea-Doo jet pump assemblies are not interchangeable across all models. Before ordering, compare the assembly to your original pump and confirm the fitment list on the product page. If your original pump was a plastic 2-stroke unit (found on some 2003–2004 4-Tec models from the factory), an aluminum replacement may require additional changes to fit.

Note that not every Sea-Doo application is covered. For example, SBT does not currently offer a jet pump assembly compatible with the iDF system on the 2023 GTX Limited 300. See individual product pages on sbt.com for current fitment, availability, and pricing.

For the supercharged 1503, SBT offers a new no-core-required long block (part numbers 29-113 and 29-113A) covering 2006–2016 SC applications except the 300 HP Spark. The correct part number depends on two things: where the crankshaft position sensor (CPS) sits on the engine and what style valve cover is installed. A CPS at the 12 o'clock position with a breather-style valve cover uses 29-113; a CPS at the 7 o'clock position with a 2- or 3-tabbed valve cover uses 29-113A. A remanufactured core-exchange option is also available for the supercharged 1503.

Before ordering any 1503 engine or internal components, have the hull ID (HIN) ready. All 4-TEC head castings share the same external casting—differences are internal (camshaft spec, etc.)—so correct identification of HP rating and model year matters when ordering heads or cam-related parts. All SBT 4-stroke engines are dyno tested before shipment.

SBT has stocked carb rebuild kits for Sea-Doo models for over 25 years. For most Sea-Doo applications, two options are typically available: an SBT aftermarket Mikuni SBN carb rebuild kit and a genuine OEM Mikuni kit. Both have a proven track record, and the choice between them is up to the buyer.

One kit services one carburetor. If a ski runs twin carbs—like the 787-powered 1998 Speedster with two engines and four total carbs—a separate kit is needed for each. The 94–95 Sea-Doo GTX uses the Mikuni SBN rebuild kit (part number MK-BN38,44-SPR), and the 1996 Sea-Doo SPX with the 717 engine is another confirmed application. Other Sea-Doo, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Polaris models are also covered by kits in SBT's catalog.

To confirm the right kit for a specific year, model, and engine, use the fitment information on each product page or contact SBT's tech team at 727-443-0373 during business hours.

SBT stocks two versions of the new 1503 SC long block engine (no core required): part number 29-113 for engines with the crank position sensor at the 12:00 position and a breather-style valve cover, and part number 29-113A for engines with the sensor at the 7:00 position and a 2–3 tabbed valve cover. The correct choice depends on the valve cover configuration of the engine being replaced, not just the model or year.

SBT also offers a remanufactured (core-exchange) version of the supercharged 1503 engine. That option includes new crankcases, crankshaft, head assembly, all internal components, and a woodruff key. Both the new and remanufactured engines are dyno tested before shipment. Note that any non-stock parts (such as a racing camshaft) would be replaced with standard stock components.

For engine replacements, SBT offers remanufactured 717/720 engines in standard (1-year no-fault warranty) and premium (2-year no-fault warranty, includes break-in oil and installation gaskets) versions. Standard SKUs use the 40- prefix; premium versions use the P40- prefix. Engines arrive fully assembled. New short blocks (SKUs 66-105 and P66-105) are also available with no core required.

For top-end work, SBT stocks top-end kits (SKUs 60-105-0 through 60-105-3), complete piston and ring kits (SKUs 47-105-0 through 47-105-3), and ring-only sets (SKUs 49-105-0 through 49-105-3), all available in standard bore and three oversizes (0.5mm, 1.0mm, 1.5mm). Standard bore for the 717/720 is 82mm. Cylinder exchanges are also available and ship ready to run — no honing needed on arrival.

Additional 717/720 parts include rotary valve covers (multiple SKUs to match your OEM part number), the rotary valve O-ring kit (SKU 52-105 — note: the 52-107 is for the 787, not the 717), and spark plugs (NGK BR8ES for the 717/720). For complete engines, SBT offers remanufactured long block assemblies for the 947/951 carb engine (fits models such as the RX, GTX, GSX-L, XP, LRV, and others, approximately 1997.5–2003) in both 1-year and 2-year warranty versions. Common replacement parts SBT stocks for the 951 carb platform include: top-end kits and piston/ring sets (available in oversizes), crankshaft end seal kits, reed sets (OEM ref 420924612, fits 1997–2006 RX/GTX/XP), Mikuni SBN i-series carb rebuild kits (one kit per carb; a 947/951 engine uses two carbs), the Mikuni i-body accelerator pump diaphragm, top-end gasket kits, cylinder exchange kits, and jet pump assemblies (e.g., 78-109-01K for the carb model). Balance shaft oil is SAE 30 at 1.25 oz capacity.

For carb work, needles and seats are not included in carb rebuild kits because sizing varies by application—verify the correct size before ordering. If uncertain about which parts fit a specific model year and hull, use the fitment notes on each product page or contact SBT directly with the hull ID.

SBT stocks seat covers for many Sea-Doo models — examples include the GTX, GTI, RXT, RXT-X, Spark, Spark Trixx, Wake, and Wake Pro lines, spanning multiple model years. Both BlackTip JetSports and Hydro-Turf brands are available, often with standard and custom-color options.

A few things to know before ordering: SBT seat covers are fitted to specific models and are not universal. They do not include foam, and they do not come with a center holding strap or a slit for one — customers typically reuse the existing strap or have an upholstery shop add it if needed.

To find the right cover, use the year/make/model search on sbt.com. Note that fitment charts for some models (such as certain RXT variants) may be incomplete in the search tool, so browsing the seat cover category directly or contacting SBT can help confirm the correct SKU. Not every Sea-Doo model has a cover available — for example, no seat cover is currently offered for the 2024 Sea-Doo Spark.

SBT stocks rotary valve covers for a range of Sea-Doo engines, including the 717 single-carb and related models. Because cover dimensions vary even across similar engines, the correct way to confirm fitment is to look at the number cast into your existing cover and match it to the SBT SKU — not just go by model year. For example, if your cover has 810 522 cast into it, that corresponds to SBT's cover for that application. See the product page for current pricing and availability.

SBT also resurfaces rotary valve covers as part of its engine remanufacturing program. If you purchase an SBT rotary valve cover it is made or resurfaced to original OEM dimensional specs. When checking cover clearance on your engine, always remove the O-ring first before measuring — clearance checked with the O-ring installed will give a false reading.

For related rotary valve components, SBT also carries rotary shaft assemblies (with seals pre-installed), brass rotary shaft gears, and rotary shaft pullers for certain Sea-Doo applications. Check individual product pages for exact fitment and current availability.

SBT's Sea-Doo lineup includes remanufactured complete engines as well as individual parts such as carburetors, rebuild kits, rotary valves, impellers, gasket kits, and more. Remanufactured engines are fully disassembled, CNC machined, assembled with new SBT parts, and dyno-tested before shipping.

A few important compatibility notes: SBT does not carry engines or parts for Sea-Doo models powered by Mercury or MerCruiser engines (for example, certain Speedster and Challenger models with the Mercury V6). Those engines must be serviced through a Mercury dealer. SBT also does not carry parts for Sea Ray or Sea Rayder sport jets.

Because fitment depends on the specific model, year, and engine displacement, check the product pages on sbt.com to confirm compatibility and see current pricing. If a needed OEM part is not stocked, the product page will typically note alternatives or direct you to the OEM.

For the 787 RFI engine, SBT offers short block engines in both standard (1-year warranty) and premium (2-year warranty) versions. The premium short block includes a free installation gasket kit; the standard version does not — gaskets are sold separately. No core charge applies to the short blocks, but a good rebuildable core is required.

Additional parts available for the 787 RFI include a crankshaft (no core required), piston ring sets in standard and multiple oversizes, and a crankshaft end seal kit for lower-end/crankcase rebuilds. An oil pump block-off kit (SKU 36-005) is also available for owners who want to eliminate the RFI oil injection system and switch to pre-mix — a common choice when the oil pump becomes problematic.

Important fitment note: there are two versions of the 787 RFI engine and they are not interchangeable. Before ordering, identify which version you have by inspecting the outside casting surface of the cylinders. 787 RFI models span several Sea-Doo platforms, including the GTX RFI (1998–2002), GSX RFI, GTI LE RFI, and 3D RFI (2003–2005). Confirm your exact model and year on the product page before purchasing.

Based on available inventory, SBT's Sea-Doo 900 ACE coverage focuses on engine assemblies, pump parts, and select drivetrain components such as crankshafts and impellers — not the IBR gate/bucket or actuator system.

If an impeller kit is the underlying need (for example, on a Spark HO model equipped with IBR), note that SBT currently carries the impeller itself but not a full impeller kit for those configurations. See the pump parts section on sbt.com for current availability.

For IBR-specific hardware, contact an authorized Sea-Doo/BRP dealer with the OEM part number for the component needed. SBT can be reached directly if there is any question about what engine or pump parts are available for a specific 900 ACE application.

For the Sea-Doo Spark 903 ACE 60/90, SBT offers a remanufactured long block engine under part number 40-115. See the product page at sbt.com for current pricing and warranty details. Standard (40-) engines carry a 1-year no-fault warranty; Premium (P-) engines carry a 2-year no-fault warranty and include an install gasket kit.

Because 900 ACE engines are in high demand, they are handled on a cores-first basis: the rebuildable core must be received by SBT before the order is processed. Plan for approximately 7–10 business days after the core arrives for the engine to ship. Cores with a broken crankshaft or a hole in the case are not acceptable.

SBT also stocks select internal components for the 900 ACE platform. For example, an updated crankshaft (OEM ref 420819809) and a separate PTO output sleeve (OEM ref 420947573) are available for the 2015 Spark. For head/girdle stretch bolts (OEM 420440324), SBT does not carry those — a local Sea-Doo dealer can source them. Use the hull ID number when confirming fitment, or call SBT at 727-443-0373.

SBT's Sea-Doo 4-TEC 1503 inventory covers items such as long block engines, gasket sets, cylinder heads, camshafts, bearings, ring sets, and related drivetrain parts — but speedometers and gauge clusters fall outside that product range.

For a Sea-Doo speedometer or gauge cluster, OEM Sea-Doo parts dealers and the used-parts market (salvage yards, PWC-specific forums, and auction sites) are typically the most productive sources.

Both SBT short block SKUs (66-105 and P66-105) ship with all engine castings, internal parts, and the installation gasket kit. The rotary valve shaft is included as shown in the product photo. However, the rotary valve itself and the rotary valve cover are not included — you will need to reuse your originals or purchase replacements.

Important installation note: rotary valve timing is not pre-set on the short block. You must set timing during assembly.

The two SKUs differ only in warranty coverage: P66-105 carries a 2-year no-fault warranty, while 66-105 carries a 1-year no-fault warranty. Both are new (no core return required) and are built to OE spec or better. See the product page for current pricing.

The 240 EFI engine found in the Utopia 205 (and related jet boats like the Islandia and Challenger 2000) is a Mercury MerCruiser powerplant, not a Sea-Doo proprietary engine. SBT does not remanufacture, sell, or provide technical support for Mercury MerCruiser engines or their internal components.

For a replacement engine, owners should contact a Mercury Marine dealer, a marine salvage yard that specializes in jet boats, or a rebuilder who works specifically with that Mercury V6 platform.

SBT may be able to help with certain other parts on these boats. For example, SBT carries some cables for the 240 EFI jet boat platform. Check the product pages or contact SBT directly to confirm availability for any specific non-engine parts needed.
