Engine Exchange & Cores
How does the SBT cylinder exchange program work?
The SBT cylinder exchange program ships remanufactured cylinders first; customers then have two weeks from delivery to return their old cylinder cores in the same box using a prepaid label SBT provides.

Do I need to send my old engine core back to SBT?
It depends on the specific engine: some SBT remanufactured engines are sold on a "core-first" basis (send your old engine in before SBT ships the replacement), while others ship to the customer first with a two-week window to return the core afterward. Check the product page for the engine you need to see which policy applies.

What options do I have if my engine has a hole in the block?
Whether a block with a hole qualifies as an acceptable core depends on the engine type and whether the exchange is for a complete long block or a short block. New (non-core) engine options are also available for some applications and eliminate the core question entirely.

Does a remanufactured engine come ready to install?
SBT remanufactured engines are fully assembled and ready to install. Transfer your external components—intake, exhaust, electronics—from the old engine to the new one, and button everything up. See the product page for what is included with your specific engine.
